Cutting Teeth!

No pics, no details... If I wait for those this post will never happen. Where does my time go?

But yes,  the lillt'un has cut her front two teeth on the bottom. She has no idea what to make of these uninvited dental stalagmites that pain her so. We busted out the children's motrin last night but bedtime was still a tearful affair, poor thing.

My best to all

Okay, fine. Here's a pic...
Yep, that's where the teeth go.

My first Father's Day

 Father's Day 2011!
It's a beautiful day outside yet I was unable to rouse my bones out of bed for the 8:00 bike ride with my friends. I slept until 8:30 instead. Soon after, my lovely wife presented me with a beautiful and happy baby who was, just a few moments before, in a more unpolished state- likely the result of an overly-generous mid-night feeding. Sarah quietly handled the clean up duty and came back to bed, H in arms, to coast for a few moments more.

The above pic has its own story. As you may have heard, we went to the beach this past weekend. Sarah's parents built a charming house for themselves and anyone who wants to come crash for a bit. We took them up on it (more on this later). I came back Sunday for work on Monday but S & H stayed on until Thursday.  The 646 was empty enough without them but the Keeper went on Walkabout (or on Sacatical, as one wit offered). The crazy kid was gone for 3 days! So in a big ol' house that usually holds three bipeds and a four-footer, it was just little ol' me. But the girls and the boy came back on the same day. Funny how much better I slept in a noisy, full house than a silent, empty house.

 So, Father's Day...
Look at this one! I'm just trying to get as happy as seems to be Lil' H's MO. She is happy, healthy, cute as a button, and equipped with the best mother anyone could hope for. It's gonna be a blast watching this one light the world up!

Speaking of light the world up, I took my family's absence as an opportunity to do some work around the house. Front porches get really dirty, understandably, because they never see the rain. So I pulled everything off the porch and hosed it down. I then Sprayed off the porch itself, walls and ceilings and fans and all in an attempt to purge the pollen and cobwebs.
Well, all was fine until I tried to turn on the porch light hours later....
Zzzzz, Whump! Pfwahhhh! Kssssssssss.....

Yup, it was on fire. The infrastructure is fine but the wires are shot. Calling an electrician....

And yesterday the washing machine gave out. It filled, and filled......and filled..... and filled.....
We now have intimate knowledge of our local Lavanderia.

Aggravating? Yes.
But if this is as bad as it gets then I still count my Athenian existence as one filled with more beauty than I can account for. It's a sweet, charmed life I live.

New Books

Grandma Kushi gifted Hannah Mo some new books. They're the kind that you can touch n' feel, but more importantly Hannah can chew on them, too. They're a hit with the little one so far. Here's proof.

Thank you, Grandma Kushi!

To the Pool!

Memorial Day, 2011... hot!
Is there any better remedy than the pool? We say no.

It turns out that my new job has a few perks that I wasn't aware of. One of these is that when my boss's sister isn't using her super-swanky pool, we can. So the friends and us (we?) got together and made a day of it. We made sure to pack all the necessities: well-supplied diaper bag, swing, car seat, cooler, towels, sun block, etc.....

In fact, the preparations for this excursion reminded me of a cup my mom used to have - Charlie Brown, with sweat pouring from his brow, claims, "Why is having fun always so much work?"
The day was great, but his point is well taken.

This was, after all, Hannah's first trip to the pool. She love, love, loves the tub so we were fairly certain that the pool would be a hit. Here's how it went.

Mom tells me that I could swim before I could walk. Hannah is certainly on track to do the same.

* No, not really. It is neither poisonous or endangered.
